The thrill of the night jumps! Naval Special Operators jumping out of a C-130.

Using Photoshop I reversed the original image (daytime) into night, adding and removing detail by masking certain aspects of the picture. By pulling the night vision goggles into Adobe Illustrator I recreated a set of binoculars for both men in the plane. Converting over the image to night meant using light sources from both the plane's green lights, and the moon along the horizon. This image was manipulated to bring the love of night jumps to life for the men who jump out into the night.
Whoever said boats can't fly?

This C-130 launches an 11 meter RHIB to fall gently onto the body of water below. The client who provided this image wanted it to be more vibrant, which called for Lightroom and Photoshops layers to blend out the overwhelming whites of the sun and clouds. After the image manipulation was set, I placed the image into Illustrator to bring out the line work of both the plan and boat which was lost while manipulating the image in Photoshop/Lightroom.
MK V Cover Fire!

This image was originally taken during the day, and I transformed the picture into a night shoot, something the MKV was well known for. The boat was given special attention in Illustrator to accent the lines of the craft and its men. The firing weapons are given a multitude of gaussian blurred colors to recreate the muzzle fire.
River Rumble on the SOC-R.

This menacing craft has a mighty reputation in the Middle East, and was known by the locals as a "porcupine boat" for the many weapons sticking out. The image called for an explosion and one was recreated in photoshop and placed in the corner to give the feeling of leaving combat.
The echelon is underway.

These four RHIBs have been my best selling piece, as many men have spent time on this craft, and have a certain love/hate relationship with it. The original image was of very low quality, requiring many hours of reconstruction in Photoshop paint tool, and Illustrator. By utilizing these tools I was able to accent the body lines of both the boat and people. It is important in all of my night pieces to leave some of the detail to the imagination, since in the dark we don't see as clearly as we do in the daytime.
SEALs staging for their mission.

Known as a "dust off", the men in the picture are staging for their mission as the helicopter lifts off. This image was initially brought into Illustrator, and I pen tooled in the details of the helicopter. The image was then placed into Photoshop to give the feeling of the sand/dust swirling around to almost blackout the sky.
These freelance pieces were created to commemorate, and honor those who have fallen in the line of duty, while serving their country.
